Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders activity up 64% in Q4 2020

There were 46 generation equipment tenders announced in the Middle East and Africa region in Q4 2020, marking a rise of 64% over the last four-quarter average of 28, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Power Plant stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the Middle East and Africa region in Q4 2020 with 77 tenders and a 35.5% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 56 tenders and a 25.8% share and Generation Equipment with 46 tenders and a 21.2% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 36 tenders and a 78.3% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: nine tenders and a 19.6% share
3. Consulting & Similar Services: one tender and a 2.2% share.

Thermal is top technology for Middle East and Africa generation equipment tenders in Q4 2020

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the Middle East and Africa region, thermal accounted for 27 tenders with a 57.4% share, followed by solar with 19 tenders and a 40.4% share and nuclear with one tender and a 2.1% share.
