North America energy storage tenders activity up 5% in Q2 2020

There were 45 energy storage tenders announced in the North America region in Q2 2020, marking a rise of 5% over the last 12-month average of 43, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q2 2020 with 323 tenders and a 47.1% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 249 tenders and a 36.3% share and Energy Storage with 45 tenders and a 6.6% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 34 tenders and a 75.6% share
  2. Project Implementation: six tenders and a 13.3% share
  3. Power Purchase Agreement: five tenders and an 11.1% share.

Solar is top technology for North America energy storage tenders in Q2 2020

Looking at energy storage tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for ten tenders with a 58.8% share, followed by wind with four tenders and a 23.5% share and biopower with one tender and a 5.9% share.
