North America energy storage tenders activity up 33% in Q4 2019

There were 48 energy storage tenders announced in the North America region in Q4 2019, marking a rise of 33% over the last 12-month average of 36, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q4 2019 with 165 tenders and a 43% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 135 tenders and a 35.2% share and Energy Storage with 48 tenders and a 12.5% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 40 tenders and an 83.3% share
2. Power Purchase Agreement: six tenders and a 12.5% share
3. Project Implementation: two tenders and a 4.2% share.

Solar is top technology for North America energy storage tenders in Q4 2019

Looking at energy storage tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for seven tenders with a 100% share.

3. Town of Mahone Bay: 6.5MW capacity from one tender.
