North America generation equipment tenders activity down 62% in Q3 2019
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

There were 68 generation equipment tenders announced in the North America region in Q3 2019, marking a drop of 62% over the last 12-month average of 177, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Generation Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q3 2019 with 68 tenders and a 35.8% share, followed by T&D Equipment with 65 tenders and a 34.2% share and Energy Storage with 23 tenders and a 12.1% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 42 tenders and a 61.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 26 tenders and a 38.2% share.

Thermal is top technology for North America generation equipment tenders in Q3 2019

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, thermal accounted for 63 tenders with a 92.6% share, followed by solar with four tenders and a 5.9% share and hydro with one tender and a 1.5% share.
