North America generation equipment tenders activity down 1% in Q4 2020

There were 222 generation equipment tenders announced in the North America region in Q4 2020, marking a drop of 1% over the last four-quarter average of 224, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q4 2020 with 282 tenders and a 43.9% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 222 tenders and a 34.6% share and Energy Storage with 46 tenders and a 7.2% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 144 tenders and a 64.9% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 78 tenders and a 35.1% share.

Thermal is top technology for North America generation equipment tenders in Q4 2020

Looking at generation equipment tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, thermal accounted for 219 tenders with a 98.6% share, followed by hydro with two tenders and a 0.9% share and solar with one tender and a 0.5% share.
