North America power industry tenders activity in February 2020 saw 162 tenders announced, marking a rise of 15% over the last 12-month average of 141, according to GlobalData’s power database.

North America power industry tenders in February 2020: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in February 2020 with 123 tenders and a share of 75.9%, down 3% over the previous month and up 16% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Canada with 39 tenders and a share of 24.1%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 106 tenders, followed by Canada with 35.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in February 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 59 tenders and a 72% share, followed by solar with 19 tenders and a 23.2% share and wind with one tender and a 1.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in February 2020, with 65 tenders, followed by Generation Equipment (63) and Energy Storage (17).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 115 tenders and a 71% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 25 tenders and a 15.4% share
  3. Project Implementation: 16 tenders and a 9.9% share

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:
