North America power industry tenders activity in June 2019 saw 181 tenders announced, marking a rise of 13% over the last 12-month average of 160, according to GlobalData's power database.

North America power industry tenders in June 2019: The US leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, the US led the activity in June 2019 with 134 tenders and a share of 74%, up 0.5% over the previous month and up 9% when compared with the last 12 month-average.

In second place was Canada with 47 tenders and a share of 26%.

Looking at the last 12-month average, the US held the top spot with 123 tenders, followed by Canada with 36.

Thermal is top technology area for tenders in June 2019

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, Thermal accounted for the largest proportion with 84 tenders and a 74.3% share, followed by Solar with 15 tenders and a 13.3% share and Hydro with seven tenders and a 6.2% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in North America as tracked by GlobalData, Generation Equipment was the most popular segment in June 2019, with 84 tenders, followed by T&D Equipment (56) and Power Plant (13).

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection with 116 tenders and a 64.1% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others with 41 tenders and a 22.7% share
  3. Project Implementation with 20 tenders and an 11% share.

Power tenders in June 2019: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. Vectren (United States) with 700MW from one tender
  2. Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association (United States) with 200MW from one tender
  3. City of Farmington (United States) with 18MW capacity from one tender.
