North America power plant tenders activity up 63% in Q3 2020

There were 44 power plant tenders announced in the North America region in Q3 2020, marking a rise of 63% over the last 12-month average of 27, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

T&D Equipment stood at first place when compared with other power tender categories in the North America region in Q3 2020 with 318 tenders and a 42.7% share, followed by Generation Equipment with 307 tenders and a 41.3% share and Power Plant with 44 tenders and a 5.9% share during the quarter.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

1. Project Implementation: 39 tenders and an 88.6% share
2. Consulting & Similar Services: four tenders and a 9.1% share
3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: one tender and a 2.3% share.

Solar is top technology for North America power plant tenders in Q3 2020

Looking at power plant tenders by the type of technology in the North America region, solar accounted for 40 tenders with a 95.2% share, followed by thermal with one tender and a 2.4% share and wind with one tender and a 2.4% share.
