North America Solar technology tenders activity rises 20% in Q4 2020

North America solar technology tenders in Q4 2020 saw 49 tenders announced, marking a rise of 20% over the last four-quarter average of 41, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of solar technology tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation with 34 tenders and a 69.4% share
  2. Power Purchase Agreement: six tenders and a 12.2% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: five tenders and a 10.2% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 6.1% share
  5. Supply & Erection: one tender and a 2% share.

The US tops North America solar power tenders activity

The US was the top country in the North America region for solar technology tenders recorded in Q4 2020 with 43 tenders and an 87.8% share, followed by Canada with six tenders and a 12.2% share.

North America solar technology tenders in Q4 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved in North America were:

  1. CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW from one tender
  2. American Electric Power Service (United States): 450MW from two tenders
  3. Lafayette Utilities System (United States): 300MW capacity from one tender.
