Global power industry tenders in December 2020: Thermal technology down 29%

Thermal technology tenders activity in December 2020 saw 111 tenders announced, marking a drop of 29% over the last 12-month average of 156, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Oil was the top category in thermal technology in terms of number of tenders for the month, accounting for 88 tenders and a 77.9% share, followed by Coal with 16 tenders and a 14.2% share. Gas stood in third place with nine tenders and an 8% share.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, thermal held the second position in terms of number of tenders during December 2020 with a 40.2% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Thermal technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

1. Supply & Erection: 70 tenders and a 63.1% share
2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 37 tenders and a 33.3% share
3. Project Implementation: three tenders and a 2.7% share
4. Electricity Supply: one tender and a 0.9% share.

North America leads thermal tenders activity in December 2020

Comparing tenders activity in thermal technology in different regions of the globe, North America held the top position with 71 tenders and a share of 64% during December 2020, followed by Asia-Pacific with 27 tenders and a 24.3% share and Europe with six tenders and a 5.4% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with six tenders and a 5.4% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.9% share.

The top issuer of tenders in Thermal technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved was:Radomskie Przedsiebiorstwo Energetyki Cieplnej Radpec Spolka Akcyjna with 22MW from one tender.
