Global power industry tenders in July 2020: Solar technology up 25%
Oil and gas companies are making moves into the UK energy market.

Solar technology tenders activity in July 2020 saw 129 tenders announced, marking a rise of 25% over the last 12-month average of 103, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during July 2020 with a 39.7% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 103 tenders and a 79.8% share
  2. Supply & Erection: nine tenders and a 7% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: six tenders and a 4.7% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: five tenders and a 3.9% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four tenders and a 3.1% share
  6. Electricity Supply: two tenders and a 1.6% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in July 2020

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 87 tenders and a share of 67.4% during July 2020, followed by North America with 17 tenders and a 13.2% share and Europe with 16 tenders and a 12.4% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with eight tenders and a 6.2% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with one tender and a 0.8% share.

Solar technology tenders in July 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. NSW Coalition State Government: 8,000MW from one tender
  2. PacifiCorp (United States): 4,300MW from one tender
  3. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 1,090MW capacity from three tenders.
