Solar technology tenders activity in March 2020 saw 82 tenders announced, marking a drop of 27% over the last 12-month average of 113, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during March 2020 with a 38.3% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 64 tenders and a 78% share
  2. Supply & Erection: seven tenders and an 8.5% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: four tenders and a 4.9% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: three tenders and a 3.7% share

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in March 2020

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 60 tenders and a share of 73.2% during March 2020, followed by North America with 15 tenders and an 18.3% share and Middle East and Africa with four tenders and a 4.9% share.

In fourth place was Europe with three tenders and a 3.7% share.

Solar technology tenders in March 2020: Top companies by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 7,066MW from four tenders
  2. CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW from one tender
  3. NTPC (India): 735.1MW capacity from two tenders.
