Global power industry tenders in November 2020: Solar technology up 10%

Solar technology tenders activity in November 2020 saw 127 tenders announced, marking a rise of 10% over the last 12-month average of 115, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during November 2020 with a 43.5% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 95 tenders and a 74.8% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 16 tenders and a 12.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: eight tenders and a 6.3% share
  4. Power Purchase Agreement: six tenders and a 4.7% share
  5. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: two tenders and a 1.6% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in November 2020

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 59 tenders and a share of 46.5% during November 2020, followed by Middle East and Africa with 38 tenders and a 29.9% share and North America with 16 tenders and a 12.6% share.

In fourth place was Europe with 11 tenders and an 8.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with three tenders and a 2.4% share.

Solar technology tenders in November 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministerio de Minas y Energia (Colombia) (Colombia): 5,000MW from one tender
  2. Ministry for the Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (Spain): 3,100MW from one tender
  3. CPS Energy (United States): 1,450MW capacity from one tender.
