Global power industry tenders in October 2020: Solar technology up 29%

Solar technology tenders activity in October 2020 saw 143 tenders announced, marking a rise of 29% over the last 12-month average of 111, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the top position in terms of number of tenders during October 2020 with a 47% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 111 tenders and a 77.6% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: 15 tenders and a 10.5% share
  3. Supply & Erection: ten tenders and a 7% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: seven tenders and a 4.9% share.

Asia-Pacific leads solar tenders activity in October 2020

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 93 tenders and a share of 65% during October 2020, followed by Europe with 24 tenders and a 16.8% share and North America with 13 tenders and a 9.1% share.

In fourth place was Middle East and Africa with 11 tenders and a 7.7% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with two tenders and a 1.4% share.

Solar technology tenders in October 2020: Top issuers by capacity

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Uttarakhand Renewable Energy Development Agency (India): 250MW from one tender
  2. NHPC (India): 165MW from two tenders
  3. Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (India) and Oil India (India): 100MW capacity from one tender.
