Power plant tenders in October 2019 saw 83 tenders announced, marking a drop of 38% over the last 12-month average of 134, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 71 tenders and an 85.5% share
  2. Consulting & Similar Services: nine tenders and a 10.8% share
  3. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: three tenders and a 3.6% share.

Asia-Pacific leads power plant activity in October 2019

Comparing tenders activity in power plant segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 56 tenders and a share of 67.5% during October 2019, followed by Middle East and Africa with 13 tenders and a 15.7% share and Europe with eight tenders and a 9.6% share.

Solar is leading technology for power plant tenders in October 2019

Among the technologies, solar accounted for 70 tenders with an 83.3% share, followed by wind with seven tenders and an 8.3% share and thermal with six tenders and a 7.1% share.

The top issuers of power plant tenders for the month in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Northern Indiana Public Service (United States): 2,600MW from two tenders
  2. NTPC (India): 1,090.29MW from six tenders
  3. Solar Energy Corporation of India (India): 600MW capacity from two tenders.
