South and Central America power industry tenders activity in August 2020 saw 32 tenders announced, marking a rise of 191% over the last 12-month average of 11, according to GlobalData’s power database.

South and Central America power industry tenders in August 2020: Bolivia leads activity

Looking at tenders by country, Bolivia led the activity in August 2020 with 13 tenders and a share of 40.6%, down 15.9% over the previous month and up 550% when compared with the last 12 month-average, followed by Trinidad and Tobago with eight tenders and a share of 25% and Uruguay with four tenders and a share of 12.5% during the month.

Looking at the last 12-month average, Bolivia held the top spot with two tenders, followed by Uruguay with two and Brazil with one tender.

Solar is top technology area for tenders in August 2020

Looking at tenders divided by the type of technology, solar accounted for the largest proportion with three tenders and a 60% share, followed by thermal with one tender and a 20% share and hydro with one tender and a 20% share.

Looking at power industry tenders divided by segment in South and Central America as tracked by GlobalData, T&D Equipment was the most popular segment in August 2020, with 18 tenders, followed by T&D Project (9) and Power Plant (4).
