T&D equipment tenders down 17% in December 2020

T&D equipment tenders in December 2020 saw 227 tenders announced, marking a drop of 17% over the last 12-month average of 272, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 194 tenders and an 85.5% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 33 tenders and a 14.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in December 2020

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 104 tenders and a share of 45.8% during December 2020, followed by North America with 73 tenders and a 32.2% share and Europe with 32 tenders and a 14.1% share.

Thermal is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in December 2020

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for six tenders with a 66.7% share, followed by hydro with two tenders and a 22.2% share and wind with one tender and an 11.1% share.
