T&D equipment tenders in January 2020 saw 204 tenders announced, marking a drop of 23% over the last 12-month average of 265, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the month was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 182 tenders and an 89.2% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 19 tenders and a 9.3% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 1% share
  4. Project Implementation: one tender and a 0.5% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in January 2020

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 104 tenders and a share of 51% during January 2020, followed by North America with 74 tenders and a 36.3% share and South and Central America with ten tenders and a 4.9% share.

Thermal is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in January 2020

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for nine tenders with a 56.3% share, followed by hydro with five tenders and a 31.3% share and solar with two tenders and a 12.5% share.
