T&D equipment tenders in Q1 2020 saw 680 tenders announced, marking a drop of 15% over the last four-quarter average of 797, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 608 tenders and an 89.4% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 58 tenders and an 8.5% share

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in Q1 2020

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 335 tenders and a share of 49.3% during Q1 2020, followed by North America with 250 tenders and a 36.8% share and Europe with 37 tenders and a 5.4% share.

Thermal is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in Q1 2020

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 24 tenders with a 57.1% share, followed by hydro with 14 tenders and a 33.3% share and solar with three tenders and a 7.1% share.
