T&D equipment tenders up 16% in Q2 2019

T&D equipment tenders in Q2 2019 saw 901 tenders announced, marking a rise of 16% over the last four-quarter average of 774, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 763 tenders and an 84.7% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 115 tenders and a 12.8% share
  3. Project Implementation: 21 tenders and a 2.3% share
  4. Consulting & Similar Services: two tenders and a 0.2% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in Q2 2019

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 442 tenders and a share of 49.1% during Q2 2019, followed by North America with 194 tenders and a 21.5% share and Middle East and Africa with 176 tenders and a 19.5% share.

Thermal is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in Q2 2019

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 41 tenders with a 56.9% share, followed by hydro with 26 tenders and a 36.1% share and solar with four tenders and a 5.6% share.
