T&D equipment tenders down 12% in Q3 2019

T&D equipment tenders in Q3 2019 saw 719 tenders announced, marking a drop of 12% over the last four-quarter average of 815, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 644 tenders and an 89.6% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 72 tenders and a 10% share
  3. Project Implementation: three tenders and a 0.4% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in Q3 2019

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 324 tenders and a share of 45.1% during Q3 2019, followed by Middle East and Africa with 255 tenders and a 35.5% share and Europe with 75 tenders and a 10.4% share.

Thermal is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in Q3 2019

Among the technologies, thermal accounted for 29 tenders with a 58% share, followed by hydro with 19 tenders and a 38% share and solar with one tender and a 2% share.
