T&D equipment tenders down 21% in Q4 2019

T&D equipment tenders in Q4 2019 saw 643 tenders announced, marking a drop of 21% over the last four-quarter average of 816, according to GlobalData’s power industry tenders database.

The proportion of tenders by category tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Supply & Erection: 571 tenders and an 88.8% share
  2. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 68 tenders and a 10.6% share

  4. Project Implementation: two tenders and a 0.3% share.

Asia-Pacific leads T&D equipment activity in Q4 2019

Comparing tenders activity in T&D equipment segment in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 335 tenders and a share of 52.1% during Q4 2019, followed by North America with 135 tenders and a 21% share and Middle East and Africa with 104 tenders and a 16.2% share.

Hydro is leading technology for T&D equipment tenders in Q4 2019

Among the technologies, hydro accounted for 19 tenders with a 48.7% share, followed by thermal with 15 tenders and a 38.5% share and solar with three tenders and a 7.7% share.
