Australia's Energy Matters will purchase 20MW of REC Peak Energy solar panels under a new agreement.

The purchase represents an output capacity to power over 5,000 Australian homes and reduce electricity generation-related carbon emissions by 32,000t a year.

REC solar panels have an energy payback time of one year as it implements an innovative production process that uses 80% to 90% less energy than traditional methods.

With its smaller footprint, the panels provide more power per square metre, an important consideration while getting the most from a rooftop area.

Energy payback refers to the duration to recover the energy used in the production of a solar panel.
