Duke Energy Generation Services (DEGS) has secured around $231m finance for the Top of the World Windpower Project in Casper, Wyoming, US.
The financing was arranged by Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, along with BBVA, Société Générale and Caja Madrid, and includes an 18-year term loan worth $193m and nearly $38m in letters of credit, which will be used to finance the company’s ongoing investments in renewable power.
The 200MW wind farm began operations in October 2010 with 66 General Electric wind turbines, each capable of producing 1.5MW and 44 Siemens turbines, each capable of producing 2.3MW.
The company has spent more than $1.5bn over the past three years to start the commercial operations of the farm.
