NextEra Energy has signed agreements with First Solar to purchase four solar photovoltaic (PV) projects in Ontorio, Canada, from First Solar.

Under the terms of the agreement, NextEra will purchase, develop and construct the Sombra and Moore Solar Energy Centers using First Solar’s thin film solar modules.

The solar energy centres will consist of two 10MW solar photovoltaic projects each.

Each 10MW project consisting of more than 172,000 panels will use First Solar’s advanced thin film technology on a fixed tilt systems.

The Energy Centers will provide power to serve about 6,440 homes and eliminate carbon dioxide emissions of 45,000t per annum.
