Celestica has entered into a multi-year supply agreement with Recurrent Energy to manufacture solar modules for its projects.
Recurrent will purchase 180MW of solar modules from Celestica to build 19 solar power plants in Ontario.
Recurrent Energy senior vice-president for development Sheldon Kimber said: “This agreement with Celestica is a strategic milestone for our solar power development plans in Canada, and in helping Ontario to reach its renewable policy goals. This unique deal also reflects our strategy of pushing procurement upstream into the solar equipment supply chain.”
The Ontario Power Authority has handed out a 20-year contract to Recurrent for the generation of 2.4GW of renewable energy under its new feed-in tariff programme.
Recurrent’s solar projects in Ontario will generate about 200MW of new solar generation, which can supply power to about 25,000 households.
