Delta Electronics has announced plans to boost its annual solar cell production capacity to 800MW and is looking for acquisitions to meet the target.
Delta Electronics chief executive officer Yancey Hai told Bloomberg that its DelSolar unit plans to invest NT$7bn (US$236m) this year to boost its solar cell production capacity.
The firm is considering the purchase of renewable energy firms with reasonable valuation, according to Hai.
“It may be as little as a 3% stake, or 5%, or as much as 100%,” he added.
At present, DelSolar has an annual production capacity of 400MW of solar cells, and also produces solar modules and systems.
