Pike Electric will build transmission lines associated with the expansion of the VC Summer Nuclear Station in South Carolina, under an EPC contract SCANA.

Under the $275m contract, Pike will undertake construction of 250 miles of new 230kV transmission lines in South Carolina.

The lines will support the VC Summer 2 and 3 nuclear units being added by South Carolina Electric & Gas Company (SCE&G) and the South Carolina Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper).

The transmission lines are expected to be completed for Unit 2 by the end of 2014 and for Unit 3 by the end of 2018.

Unit 2 is expected to come onstream in 2016, followed by Unit 3 in 2019.
