Radioactive water is still leaking from Japan's Fukushima plant, which was damaged by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country last month. A steep rise in radiation was observed with radioactive iodine levels reaching 4,385 times the limit, according to the BBC.
Radioactive water is still leaking from Japan’s Fukushima plant, which was damaged by the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that devastated the country last month.
A steep rise in radiation was observed with radioactive iodine levels reaching 4,385 times the limit, according to the BBC.
Radiation was also found for the first time in groundwater 15m below the plant’s No 1 reactor.
To date, over 70,000 people have been evacuated from a 20km zone surrounding the plant.
The leakage is expected to affect drinking water if concentrations are high enough.
