Puget Sound Energy has installed the first wind turbine for phase 1 of its 343MW Lower Snake River Wind Project in Washington, US.
The first of the project’s 430ft tall turbines was completed by the turbine manufacturer, Siemens Energy.
Once complete in 2012, the wind farm, with 149 turbines, will be PSE’s largest wind project and one of the largest in the Pacific Northwest, which will supply power to up to 100,000 homes.
At present, cranes are setting the turbines’ tower sections, nacelles and three-blade rotors in place.
PSE and Siemens Energy began building the Lower Snake River project in May 2010.
