Kiewit and Black & Veatch JV to Build $1bn Canadian Power Plant

A joint venture formed by Kiewit Energy Canada and Black & Veatch Canada has secured a contract from Enmax for the construction of its $1bn Shepard Power Plant in south-east Calgary, Canada. The initial construction of this facility is slated to begin this month after being delayed

A joint venture formed by Kiewit Energy Canada and Black & Veatch Canada has secured a contract from Enmax for the construction of its $1bn Shepard Power Plant in south-east Calgary, Canada.

The initial construction of this facility is slated to begin this month after being delayed for two years and is expected to become operational by August 2015, reports the Calgary Herald.

The project is set to have been delayed by the financial crisis.

The Shepard Power Plant, with a total generating capacity of 800MW, will have a 240MW natural gas-fired turbine generator and one 320MW steam turbine generator.
