The facility will be owned and operated by Constellation Energy and consists of about 81,000 First Solar thin-film photovoltaic panels, ground-mounted at many sites near the city of Sacramento.

Constellation Energy has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement with Sacramento Municipal Utility District to sell the energy generated from the system.

The project is expected to commence operations by the end of 2011.

The transaction was facilitated by Smart Energy Capital and, with this acquisition, Constellation Energy currently owns and operates about 90MW of solar installations in the US.
