GSR Energo has selected GE's gas turbine technology for its new combined-cycle power plant in St Petersburg, Russia.

The plant will be constructed in phases adding 110MW and 89MW of energy in each phase.

GE will supply a Frame 6FA gas turbine and associated generator for the project, by the end of this year.

GSR Energo CEO Viktor Kotov said GE’s 6FA gas turbine has a proven record of reliability and performance, making it a good match for their project requirements.

The unit is expected to commence commercial operations by 2013.
