Rancho California Water District (RCWD) in the US has selected SunPower to design and construct two solar power systems totaling 1.1MW at two RCWD facilities in the state of California.

The company will install a 1.1MW SunPower T0 Tracker at the district's Senga Doherty Pump Station in Murrieta.

SunPower will build a 610KW solar parking canopy structure at RCWD's headquarters to provide solar power for the facility along with shade for the parking lot.

Construction of these systems will be funded from the qualified energy conservation bonds issued by the state to promote the use of renewable energy in government facilities.

The systems are expected to save about $8.5m in electricity costs for the district over the next 25 years.

Work on the project will begin this year and will be complete by the year-end.
