ABB has secured a $20m contract from EMAS AMC to supply power cables for Statoil's Gudrun North Sea oil and gas field, located off the coast of Norway.

The company will deliver 55km of 52kV, three-core submarine cable with integrated optical fibre, which can also accommodate additional connections in future.

EMAS AMC, part of the Ezra Holdings, will carry out the installation work in the third quarter of 2013.

The cable will help facilitate the supply of 20MW of electrical power from Statoil's Sleipner fields to the Gudrun field to enable oil and gas production, scheduled to begin in 2014.
