Vestas has unveiled two new 2MW wind turbines at the American Wind Energy Association fair in California, US.

The Danish company says that the new fleet of wind turbines have an improved gearbox and larger rotors, generating increased output.

At an IEC I (high wind) site, the new V90-2MW GridStreamer generates about 10% more energy output than the older V80-2MW, while on an IEC II (medium wind)site, the new V100-2MW GridStreamer produces about 15% more energy compared to a V90-1.8MW.

The new turbines are designed have greater efficiencies and lower foundation, erection, and grid connection costs.

Vestas GridStreamer platform senior vice-president Claus Stegmann Stroeh said, "With the introduction of a more powerful and versatile 2MW GridStreamer range, customers can deploy a modular fleet of efficient and fully grid compliant 2MW turbines for optimal performance across all wind classes and site conditions.
