MetCap Energy Investments has selected GE's FlexEfficiency technology for its new integrated renewables combined cycle (IRCC) power plant, to be located in Karaman, Turkey.

The FlexEfficiency 50 IRCC plant is designed for flexible operation by integrating a 50Hz 9FB gas turbine, a steam turbine, a generator, 22MW of GE wind turbines and 50MW of eSolar concentrated solar thermal tower technology.

The plant is expected to have a power generation capacity of 530MW, which is enough energy to power more than 600,000 homes once completed.

Gama Power Systems Engineering and Contracting has been selected to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the project.

The plant is expected to begin commercial operations in 2015.

MetCap Energy Investments chairman Celal Metin said the plant will have zero liquid discharge, low emissions and a rapid-response, 28-minute start capability.
