South-Korea based Daewoo Engineering & Construction has won a contract to build a 2,000MW thermal power plant in Sur, Oman.

The company secured the $1.2bn contract from Oman Power and Water Procurement Company.

Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by April 2014, Daewoo said in a statement.
