Suzlon Energy is set to build a $1.3bn wind power farm in South Australia.

The Ceres project, which will be equipped with 180 turbines, will be located 20km South-West of Ardrossan on the East Coast of the Yorke Peninsula.

The plant will be capable of generating 600MW of energy, which will be transmitted to the Adelaide power grid, through a submarine cable.

Suzlon Energy expects the farm will reduce 2.5 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually as it supplies power to 200,000 homes every year, according to an ABC report.

Construction of the plant is expected to be completed by the end of 2015.
