Metso has received a contract from We Energies to supply a biomass boiler for its We Energies / Domtar biomass energy project at the Domtar Mill in Wisconsin, US.

The power plant will employ circulating fluidised bed (CFB) technology to produce approximately 50MW of power and process steam to the mill.

Tree trimming, sawdust and waste wood from logging and mill activity will be used as the main fuel by the new biomass-fuelled cogeneration power plant.

The plant will commence commercial operations by 2013 and is expected to the Metso's largest and most efficient biomass-fired boiler operating in the US.
