Electric utility Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO) may decommission the Fukushima Dai-Ni nuclear power plant in Japan, the country's industry minister has said.

Yukio Edano told the Kyodo News that the resumption of the nuclear plant in addition to the No 5 and 6 reactors of the Fukushima Daiichi plant, may not be approved by local residents.

Several reactors in Japan remain offline amid heightened public concern over nuclear power following the nuclear accident at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, triggered by an earthquake and tsunami, which hit the country in March.
