The cabinet of ministers has granted a decision to give approval of about NPR10,000 to individual households in urban regions that agree to install solar panels.

The cash insentive aims to help people faced with 12 hours of power outages each day.

The solar sub-committee formed to help distribute aid consists of board members of Alternative Energy Promotion Center (AEPC) and will carry out a study and determine effective ways to distribute the subsidy.

The government initially aims to instal solar panels in one million urban households that have contact to power grids of Nepal Electricity Authority or any other electricity supplier.
