Power utility China Huaneng Group has had to halt plans on two power projects after the company failed to clear environmental impact assessments, official Chinese news agency Xinhua reports.
The assessment process on the coal-fired Yimin power facility and the Long Kaikou hydropower project was suspended by The Ministry of Environmental Protection.
Although work on the plant began with approval from environmental inspectors, the plants both failed to meet the requirements of subsequent inspections.
The company has formed a work group to rectify the situation and investigate the projects. It has also asked the plants’ designers to reassess the environmental impact, reports Xinhua.
