Siemens Energy has won an order from Europe's largest renewables company, Statkraft, for turnkey construction of a photovoltaic plant in Italy.

The plant, with a peak output of 3.3MW, will be built in Casale in the vicinity of Rome to supply over 1,200 Italian households with eco-friendly electricity.

Siemens will be responsible for project management including engineering and construction of the solar power plant.

In addition to 15,700 crystalline solar modules, the Siemens Energy supply for the solar plant includes Siemens Sinvert solar inverters, transformers, cabling, the grid connection and the entire civil works.

Commissioning of the solar plant is scheduled for December 2009.
