Utility EDF (Electricite de France) has cut its estimation for full-year electricity production from its British Energy UK nuclear plants by 2.8%, Bloomberg reported.

Lake Acquisitions, a unit of EDF, said British Energy reactors may generate as much as 30.4 terrawatt hours (tWh) of power in second half of 2009, after generating 28.1tWh in the first half of 2009.

The possible 58.5tWh of power production in 2009 compares with 60.2tWh forecast 16 April 2009.

EDF’s estimation does not include unplanned stoppage to production.

Lake Acquisitions said that the planned maintenance work will limit the output by 13.4tWh in the six months from 1 July 2009.
