Germany’s Schmack Biogas Wins UK Deal

German biogas company Schmack Biogas will supply the plant engineering and key components for a biogas plant to be run on energy crops in the UK.

Around 34,000 tons of maize silage and 2,500 tons of whole plant silage will be processed in the plant every year.

The plant, located in Stoke Bardolph near Nottingham, will be operated by the water utility Severn Trent Water. The contract is valued at about €4m.

Work on the site has already begun and commissioning of the plant is expected to begin by the end of 2009.
