Wärtsilä Secures Pakistan Power Deals

Wärtsilä has secured operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts from the Nishat Group of Companies for two upcoming power stations in Pakistan. Under the contracts, valid five years, Wärtsilä will run, maintain and provide all labour and spare parts for power stations run by Nishat

Wärtsilä has secured operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts from the Nishat Group of Companies for two upcoming power stations in Pakistan.

Under the contracts, valid five years, Wärtsilä will run, maintain and provide all labour and spare parts for power stations run by Nishat Power Limited (NPL) and Nishat Chunian Power Limited (NCPL) located near Lahore, Pakistan.

Each power station will use 11 Wärtsilä 18V46 engines and a steam turbine to generate 200MWe of output.

The NPL and NCPL power plants are expected to become operational in the third quarter of this year and first quarter of 2010 respectively.

Nishat Group chairman Mian Mohammad Mansha said both projects are currently undergoing installation and commissioning.

Wärtsilä Services group also has an O&M contract for Nishat Group's 33MW captive power station at DG Cement.

The company currently has about 1,800MW of power plants either under construction or in operation in Pakistan.
