The two countries will use Scottish green technology to reduce carbon emissions in India and cut down reliance on traditional fossil fuels.
The Scottish minister for external affairs, Michael Russell, said both countries are blessed with natural resources to exploit renewable energy.
Scotland has a target of meeting 50% of its total electricity demand with renewable energy sources by 2020.
