A group of wind farm developers are teaming up for four offshore projects located in Scottish territorial waters, it has been announced.

The four projects, located in the outer Firths of Forth and Tay, will have a 2,470MW combined capacity.

The offshore projects include the 415MW Forth Array farm awarded to Fred Olsen Renewables, the 450MW Neart na Gaoithe farm awarded to Mainstream Renewable Power and the 700MW Bell Rock project awarded to Airtricity Holdings UK and Fluor.

The fourth offshore project involves a 905MW Inch Cape wind farm that has been awarded to RWE Npower Renewables and SeaEnergy Renewables (Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm).

The wind farms will be spread across a 475km² area, which is situated 10km from the shore.

It is expected that the Scottish Government could approve the individual projects by mid-2012.
