Areva's German subsidiary Multibrid has commissioned six M5000 turbines for Germany's first offshore wind park, the Alpha Ventus project in the North Sea, 45km off the island of Borkum.

The 30MW wind farm has been developed for Deutsche Offshore Testfeld und Infrastruktur Gesellschaft, which has E.ON, Vattenfall and EWE as shareholders.

The 5MW turbines, which have entered the test phase, have already generated around 30 million KWh since commissioning.
